Dr Jaswant Singh Thind belongs to an agriculturist’s family from District Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. He had his primary and secondary education from the village school. His grandfather was a renowned vaid of his area and perhaps he got inspired from him for pursuing the medical profession. From a village school to becoming a leading ophthalmologist, his success can be an inspiration for many.”

Eventually, academically brilliant and hardworking Jaswant Singh Thind joined King George’s Medical Collage, Lucknow for his MBBS course. He also completed his M.S. from the same medical college. He then moved to Jalandhar and worked with Guru Nanak Mission Hospital and then with Rajan Eye Hospital for almost 4 years.

In the year 1991, he laid the foundation of Thind Eye Hospital and in 1995, changed it into a limited company with other Directors on board. He has all praise for his wife Harjinder Kaur, who he says, has stood by him all through and takes care of the family as well as the administration of the hospital. His two daughters and one son are right now pursuing their medical degrees at various stages.
